The plate was a smooth, black, wooden surface, which children used as a notebook. They wrote on it with a tool named “kondyli”, which was made of slate, that was hung by a rope and cleaned with a sponge.
It was replaced around 1950 by new technology items such as pencils and notebooks.
Today, it aptly reminds us of the shape of a tablet, since in fact, nowadays discussions are being made about providing tablets to students in order to be used as an educational tool.
